Thailand's prominent landscape artist Aphirak Punmoonsilp and Beijing's master painter Li Cheng Jie share their philosophy and experience of art through "Borderless Thai-Chinese Art Collaboration", which kicks off today at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre and will wrap on April 21.
Presented by Siri Gallery, the exhibition features over 50 art pieces that capture the artists' impressions through various artistic perspectives and incorporate the spiritualism of the five great mountains in China -- Dong Chuan, Feng Huang, Zhangjiajie, Tianmenshan and Huangshan -- they visited on a six-month journey.
The exhibition is a record of the powerful natural landscape that represents a crucial historic chapter in the Thai-Chinese relationship presented through new artistic forms.
For 18 years, Aphirak has meditated and sharpened his painting skills on the Mae Salong mountain in Chiang Rai. Combining an experience of painting mountain landscapes in Thailand and other countries for over 30 years, his work is full of natural power and enchantment.
Master Li is a top-rated artist who spent the majority of his life residing and working in the mountains of China. He plays a crucial role in promoting Chinese ink paintings through exhibitions in collaboration with artists from other countries including Canada, the US, Germany, Bulgaria and Russia.
The Bangkok Art and Culture Centre is on the Pathumwan intersection and is open Tuesday until Sunday, 10am-9pm.
