Environmentally Friendly Flea Market

Environmentally Friendly Flea Market

ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT

Bangkok is always a shopper's paradise. During this weekend, the eighth edition of the Noise Market at Museum Siam returns with a flea market that features handmade crafts, designs, books and beauty products as well as food and drink. There will be more than 100 shops that are guaranteed to offer environmentally friendly products only. Recommended merchandise are ceramic crafts, fleece products, and shampoo and soap made of black jasmine rice.

After this annual market caused tons of trash and wasted food, the host of the event, Museum Siam, aimed to reduce trash and recycle food waste. In collaboration with Glom Bai Mai Nai Muang (Leaves In The City) and Yip In Tsoi Less Waste, the team will manage waste sorting and leftover food will be decomposed immediately. After the two-day event, the hosts promised to let eventgoers know how many tons of compost they will have. To reduce trash successfully, the hosts asks visitors to co-operate with them by carrying their own water containers, spoons, forks, lunch boxes and tote bags. Anyone who has their own utensils will receive special discounts.

Other highlights at the event are music performances and a film screening. There will be more than 20 indie bands including YesterdayIDied, Tak Tidanan, beaglehug and Kil Joy Trio (Golf T-Bone). On April 21, the film The Devilish Killer (1971) will be screened at 8pm, with live dubbing by Thai projectionist Big Film, and at 9pm The Devilish Killer will be screened with live movie-score performances.

Visitors can park their cars at Yodpiman Market or the Navy Club. However, public transportation is highly recommended.
