Richard Koh Projects is holding "The Goat Story", an exhibition by Kedsuda Loogthong, who will take viewers to explore the poetics of the mundane and repetition from tomorrow until June 15.

Kedsuda will display 16 new graphite-on-paper works and an installation of lead sculptures to communicate her narrative through the mundane notion of goat herds in the city versus those from a rural village.

From her view, the goat is the animal that lives a simple life and is able to eat anything. After several observations, she found out that the life of a goat varies by herd.

The goats living life in a confined area also reminded her of a certain group of minorities who live their lives unusually. This sense of displacement is rendered through the emotive and seemingly awkward facial expressions of her subject matter.

The notion of uprooting and, more perversely, forced relocation in the name of "progress" is thus put into question. The exhibition is aimed to record memory linking the past and present vis-à-vis her subject matter of the goat (and its daily routine) within contemporary life's ever-changing environment.

A native of Songkhla province, Kedsuda graduated from the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts at Bangkok University. Her early works examine the urbanisation of her rural landscape and society and how consumerism has affected the lives of simple country folks. She has participated in many group exhibitions in Singapore, the Philippines, South Korea and Finland. Her works are collected by Singapore Art Museum and are currently in their permanent collection.

Richard Koh Projects is on the 3rd floor of N22 Art Warehouse, Narathiwat 22, and is open from Tuesday until Saturday, 10am-6pm.
