Tiny Tree started out as an online terrarium shop on IG. They've got two locations and are planning to add one more, but it's only at their store on Sukhumvit 31 that they serve a brunch-and-coffee-style menu. It's a way to have their customers participating in their weekend terrarium workshops, something to munch on while in the midst of it, but over time it's also become a place for people to chill, do work or have friends gather over a small meal and drinks.

Tiny Tree's menu offers the usual selection of coffee and tea drinks and a few food items that are great for a brunch or afternoon snack. They've got a selection of pancakes and brunch sandwiches. We tried the Pesto sandwich (B145), a perfect brunch snack. The bread is just the right amount of crunchy but not so much so that it's too tough to eat, and the pesto gives the right amount of spice contrasted with the sweetness of the baby tomatoes. Plus, the cheddar cheese on it is pretty generous. Tiny Tree also serves up a number of pastries, but the crowd favourite and, in our opinion, a definite must-try is the orange cake (B95). Topped with baby orange slices, this was a fruity pastry that wasn't too sweet.

As for the drinks, we bypassed the usual selections and tried the specials. Their Lychee and rose tea (B85) is a perfect refreshing drink for a hot day, which in Bangkok is basically every day. If you want something a little quirky and sweet, they've just recently introduced the Unicorn milk (B95) to coincide with the upcoming Children's Day. If you sign up for the terrarium workshop they're holding tomorrow, you get the Unicorn milk for free.

Tiny Tree may be a little ways inside the soi and not on the main road, but that's what makes it a perfect chill spot: it's away from the traffic and noise of Sukhumvit. The menu isn't complicated or fancy, and for a relaxing afternoon, that's what we like -- Bruno Mars pun intended.
