Two young Thai talents from the Yehudi Menuhin School will give a violin and piano recital at Sala Sudasiri Sobha, Lad Phrao 41, on Sunday at 4pm.

Presented by CIMB Thai Private Banking, the concert will feature Nipakorn Limcharoen, a 17-year-old American-born Thai violinist, with piano accompaniment by Tai Luanghvisut. Both are studying at the world-renowned specialist music school in England, known for developing world-class musicians from a young age through scholarships and private sponsorships as well as patrons.

The evening programme will feature beautiful variations on the romantic violin repertoire, including Handel's Violin Sonata In G Minor (HWV368), Brahms' Contemplation And Scherzo In C Minor From F-A-E Sonata, Ries' Perpetuum Mobile, Sarasate's Introduction And Tarantella and Bruch's Violin Concerto No.1 In G Minor.

Nipakorn started violin lessons at the age of four. She has performed in the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall twice after becoming a prize winner at Crescendo International Music Competition and the Young Pianist Competition of New Jersey in 2007. She won first prize in the piano elementary category at the Princeton Festival in 2008 and second prize in the violin category of ANZCA Modern Piano & Violin Competition 2009 in Bangkok.

In 2010, she moved to Singapore where she won several more awards and performed in the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory Concert Hall and Royal Thai Embassy in Singapore as a soloist and chamber musician. At the Yehudi Menuhin School, she has performed as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player.

The 16-year-old Tai studied piano with Nopadol Atsavakovith, Alberto Firrincieli, Jamorn Supapol and Nat Yontararak. He won second prize at the Thailand Mozart International Piano Competition in 2014. He has studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School since 2014.
