Lettuce eat clean

From farm to BTS Saladaeng

Photos: Mika Apichatsakol

I was very upset when my regular tea place at Silom Complex vanished without notice -- at least I wasn't notified. I had so many memories there: using the free Wi-Fi to submit my Guru articles and being constantly convinced I needed another nifty tea gadget from the little boutique. Hung up on the loss, I didn't think I'd ever embrace the replacement. But to my inner skinny-bitch's defence, it's an organic salad and juice bar. Life goes on, people.

The new establishment farmfactory comes from guy behind Secret Salad Farm, a 100% non-toxic, hydroponic veggie farm and grocer in Phuket. So don't expect the menu to just say "lettuce". Rather, ask yourself if you want green oak, red coral, romaine cos, frillice iceberg and other leafy jargon. Beyond the lettuce, the possibilities of what could go in your salad are extensive as well.

You may prefer to just go with one of farmfactory's nine preset signature salads. These thought-out creations include the protein-filled Harvest cobb (B139/210), Avocobb (B159/239) for avocado lovers and vegan options such as Umami grain bowl (B159/239) and Superfood detox (B159/239). Salads come in two sizes: "medium", which is the smaller one, and "factory" which is recommended if you're planning to just have a salad for a main meal. Yes, a main meal because you've cheated too many times this week.

Currently, farmfactory has a factory-sized salad and a fresh cold-pressed juice combo promotion that starts from B289. Or if you're just looking to quench your thirst, you can get cold-pressed juice for B125. Heart beet, featuring carrot, beetroot, apple, lemon and pineapple, is one to go with if you're looking for a quick fix of superpowers and don't mind a veggie tinge in your drinks. If you do mind, there are fruitier options, such as Forever young, a simple yet tasty concoction of apples, passion fruit and pineapples.

Farmfactory is conveniently located at Silom Complex's BTS access point on the second floor. Visit or call 063-215-1015.
