And then there’s a very merry Christmas Day Brunch featuring family-friendly activities guaranteed to make Christmas 2017 a magical occasion, with a dedicated Kids’ Corner, magic shows, balloon sculpture and face painting, plus an appearance by ‘Santarina’ the Lady Santa, who will greet guests and help spread the holiday cheer.

The New Year’s Eve Masquerade Gala Dinner is a glittering end-of-the-year party and buffet under the stars at the elegant Riverside Terrace. With the shimmering waters of the mighty Chao Praya River as a dramatic backdrop, guests can dance the night away to the live music and DJ sets, and a front-row seat to spectacular fireworks displays at midnight.

Guests are invited to defeat the “holiday hungeries” at the sumptuous New Year’s Day BBQ Buffet Brunch, with a huge spread of international and flame-kissed fare to get your 2018 off to a deliciously satisfying start.

The epicurean odyssey created for this year-end celebration is the work of Executive Chef Robert Czeschka, whose 28 years of experience includes The Palais Schwarzenberg Vienna in his native Austria, the 3 Michelin-starred Jean Bardet in France, Sheraton’s Red Sea Saudi Arabia, Cairo at the Pyramids and Karachi properties, the Hilton Berlin, the Renaissance Kuala Lumpur, Shangri-La Hotel Beijing.

Hailing as he does from Austria-a country renowned for its centuries-old Christmas traditions- Chef Robert has captured spirit and flavour of these Christmas heritage dishes with authenticity and passion of a Norman Rockwell canvas.

Christmas roasts make an appearance in an all-star selection of lip-smacking, carved to order meats, not the least significant of which is the Whole Australian Turkey, oven roasted to a tantalising golden brown with a tender, buttery bite and farm-fresh flavour. And all the trimmings are here: a savoury Celery and Breadcrumb Stuffing served loaf-sliced with gravy, cranberry sauce, while the requisite mashed potatoes are rich, thick and impossibly smooth.

And those whose crave for the carve cannot be sated by fowl alone won’t be disappointed.  Also on-board are Rib Eye Beef Roast, Baked Virginia Ham with Rye Bread Crust and Baked Salmon wrapped in a delicately textured Puff Pastry.

Those not familiar with lesser-known Christmas culinary traditions will enjoy experiencing the flavours of these heritage delicacies, many of which routinely appear in classic Western literature, such as in the writings of Dickens, Shakespeare and Chaucer.

And along with long-time holiday favourites like Crème Brulée, Christmas Log cake and German-style Christmas cookies, the Christmas Dessert Corner features some contemporary confectionary creations like Banana Chocolate Mousse, Chocolate Mint Tart and Tiramisu Eggnog Trifle are offered. Fans of American afters will swoon for the Apple crumble, Pumpkin Pie and utterly irresistible Louisiana Pecan Pie and Chocolate Fountain for some choco-fantasy fulfilment therapy.

Anyone with a penchant for fruits de mer will get on swimmingly at the Seafood station, where glistening terraces of iced River Prawns, Tiger Prawns, Rock Lobster, Salmon, Snapper, Snow Fish and Marinated Combo Skewers are just waiting to be caught.

A visit to the Cheese Table reveals a brimming of A-List curds from the world’s top cheese-producing locales. Tomino, Gorgonzola, Pouligny St Pierre and Chaource are there, as are Taleggio, Brie, Boursin and Munster along with nuts, crispbread, dried fruits and other condiments that make the cheese culture a universally cherished pastime.

Rounding out this impressively diverse spread are tids, bits and bites of other popular world cuisines like Chinese, Indian, Italian, Japanese and of course, Thai-all expertly and authentically prepared, and presented in a taste-tempting mosaic of international offerings.
