Editorial Reviews

Kasikorn Bank invites Thai and foreign artists who have resided in the Kingdom no less than six months to enter the "Contemporary Art Contest 2012" to vie for cash prizes worth more than 1.4 million baht.

Held as a platform for all to showcase their independent concepts and artistic skills, the contest will accept both two-dimensional and three-dimensional works.

The paintings, drawings or prints should not exceed 2m in width and length (including frames); while the sculptures or other 3D pieces should not exceed 1m in each dimension (excluding base).

Entries must be produced with durable techniques and materials, making them ready for installation and display.

They will be judged based on their artistic value.

On offer are a total of 13 prizes, including one grand prize worth 300,000 baht, two excellence prizes worth 200,000 baht each, and 10 special prizes worth 70,000 baht each. Those whose works are selected for display in an exhibition will also receive 5,000 baht each. Entries can be submitted from Sept 7 to 9 at any of the four venues representing each region _ Silpakorn University's Art Centre (Nakhon Pathom), Chiang Mai University's Art Centre, Mahasarakham University's Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, and Thaksin University's Faculty of Fine Arts (Song Khla).

Kasikorn Bank’s Contemporary Art Contest is accepting entries from Sept 7-9. For more information call 02-470-2653—8.
