The "Siam Center Design Forward: SPY U Fashion Contest 2012" is a platform for rising stars to transform their fashion ideas into magnificent creations and vie for scholarships worth over 100,000 baht.

In its sixth year, the theme for the contest is "Inspired by Dots".

The contest gives a chance for university or college fashion design students aged 17 to 25 to widen their view of the fashion world. Eligible contestants can enter individually or in pairs.

They are required to submit a portfolio of 10 costumes, five for men and five for women.

Their designs should be sketched on A3-sized paper with explanations of the concepts, designs and inspirations.

Prospective entrants are encouraged to browse through last year's works and the latest trends in the fashion industry at www.spyfanclub.com.

A total of 30 entrants will be invited to present their collections and 10 entrants will be selected for the final round. The designers will be given the chance to work in a fashion house environment as they create a collection with 10 leading Thai fashion designers.

The finalists will also participate in a workshop to learn about selecting show components, brand building and marketing, patterning and cutting techniques, photo tips from professional photographers and a make-up training by IMC (International Make-up Center). The workshop will prepare the finalists for the final round presentation, scheduled for Nov 14 at Siam Discovery.

The winner will be awarded a 50,000 baht scholarship, plus a chance to work on a collection for the Workshop brand. The first runner-up will receive 30,000 baht and the second runner-up 10,000 baht. There is also an Inspiring Award offering 10,000 baht, plus a chance to work on a project with Spy; and the Popular Vote Award with 5,000 baht on offer.

All prizes come with an honorary plaque. The fashion designs of all 10 finalists will also be featured in Sudsupda Magazine and put on show at Siam Centre from Dec 1 to 30.
