Official description

It may be nearly the Chinese Year of the Snake, but dragons and lions will also feature prominently at Megabangna's celebrations this week.

Megabangna is putting on cultural performances, rituals and fun activities during the "Megabangna Chinese New Year Celebration 2013" festival from Thursday until next Monday.

This is a chance for visitors to worship holy deities and receive a blessing with Rew Jitsampas, a fortune teller renowned for his psychic powers, who will invite important deities such as the Fortune God, Bodhisattvas and God of War at the main entrance of the shopping mall on Friday at 7pm.

The festival will feature shows from 5pm each day from Saturday to next Monday. The line-up includes the first glorious LED dragon and lion dance performance, a synchronised drum performance representing the five great elements in rhythmic fashion, a spectacular plum blossom pole-jumping lion show, an auspicious lion performance featuring nine lions, and a dance starring a lit-up, 45m-long dragon.

There's also a Chinese-style market which offers authentic dishes and activities including a photo booth which allows visitors to pose for pictures in traditional costumes.

They will also try their hands at Chinese calligraphy and learn about the ancient Chinese art of threading to remove facial hair.

If your astrological sign clashes with the Snake Year, Rew will also host a talk session to provide ways to fix or improve the upcoming tumultuous year. The talk is set for Saturday from 7pm to 8.30pm and joining him will be two famous actresses _ Ratha "Yaya Ying" Pohngarm and Chalida "Mint" Wijitwongthong.
