Official description

Flores De Mayo (Flowers of May), one of the most colourful and popular festivities celebrated during the month of May in the Philippines, will come alive in Bangkok on May 31.

The ‘Flores De Mayo, Santacruzan 2013’ will see a parade of 70 queens dressed in contemporary Filipina gowns at S31 Sukhumvit Hotel on May 31 at 6pm.

Presented by United Filipinos in Thailand (UFT), the "Flores De Mayo, Santacruzan 2013" is a cultural and charitable event which will feature a parade of more than 70 sagalas (queens) dressed in fabulous and elegant Filipina gowns, in the Grand Ballroom of S31 Sukhumvit Hotel on May 31 at 6pm.

Flores De Mayo is celebrated in honour of the Virgin Mary. This tradition was brought to the Philippines by the Spaniards.

The Santacruzan is the highlight of the Flores De Mayo festival. This historical-religious procession of beautiful sagalas depicts different personas from the holy book. Santacruzan commemorates the crusade led by Saint Helena in search of the True Cross of Jesus.

Tickets cost 1,500 baht including a buffet dinner, plus a preview of the Hapiyoh Mi ethnic dance troupe from northern Philippines. Proceeds will assist in supporting Filipinos living and working in Thailand, and those facing problems in the Kingdom, while also helping those affected by natural disasters in the Philippines, and an orphanage in Thailand.

To secure a ticket, call 081-372-4962, 085-129-0519 or 086-051-4872.
