Official description

The famous French-Thai cultural festival, “La Fête 2014”, will return to the Kingdom for the 10th year with a dozen exciting programmes to be presented between June 4 and July 6.

Organised by the Embassy of France, in collaboration with Alliance Francaise, this year’s event will cover many styles of contemporary artistic creation — classical and electronic music, hip hop and contemporary dance, “new magic”, puppetry, photography, as well as paintings and sculpture exhibitions.

Several shows will highlight the fruitful result of Franco-Thai cooperation and most artists will meet with students and Thai creators for a truly multicultural festival that will increase and deepen exchanges between France and Thailand.

The festival will open with The Best Of The Quartet concert performed by the Parisii String Quartet, one of the most famous and prestigious string quartets in the world.

The festival will conclude with A Night At The Movies concert featuring classic film songs performed by stars from London’s West End — Robyn North and David Shannon.

Directing Bangkok Symphony Orchestra in this closing concert will be Roderick Dunk, one of Britain’s most versatile conductors.

The performance will take place at Thailand Cultural Centre, Ratchadaphisek Road, on July 6 at 8pm. Ticket prices range from 500 to 2,500 baht from Thai Ticket Major.

One of the most anticipated shows of the festival will be Silence On Tourne!, a new dance production by Pockemon Crew, which will take the audience to journey through the cinema of the 1930s and 1940s — a time when many musicals inspired some of the basic hip hop moves. It will be staged at Aksra Theatre, Rang Nam Road, on June 18 at 8pm (visit www.thaiticketmajor.com).
