Official description

The fabulous “Dance the World in One Day” festival returns to entertain with different dance styles from around the globe on June 21 and 22.

Organised by local dance studio Rumpuree, DWOD 2014 will be a rare chance for local aficionados to experience dance genres associated with different cultures including hip hop, salsa, bachata (a style that originated in the Dominican Republic), belly dancing, tribal fusion, Argentine tango and Bollywood. Once again, the auditorium of the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre at Pathumwan intersection will be transformed into a dance floor for performers from home and abroad.

The festival organisers will be presenting four shows in all, each of which will feature some 80 participants from 20 countries. The curtain goes up at 2pm and again at 6pm on both days.

Among those sure to wow audiences with their exciting moves will be new-generation salsa instructor Michael Belmonte, leading Argentine tango couple Pablo Giorgini and Noelia Coletti, and Canada’s contemporary street-jazz dance queen Melinda Naylor.

Performers from Thailand will include Raks Rumpuree, a semi-finalist in Season 3 of Thailand’s Got Talent; Arnon Poomruang, a dance master from Grammy Entertainment; and Ali Rezar Thoha and the No Drama Crew, semi-finalists from Thailand Dance Now.

Tickets cost 500 baht (400 baht for students) and can be purchased from Rumpuree dance studio (fifth floor, Amarin Plaza, Phloenchit Road) and at the door.
