Sangdao Performing Arts School is transforming Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, the famed children's novel by Roald Dahl, into a dance performance, which will be staged at Kad Theatre in Chiang Mai, on Nov 23 at 3pm.
The classic book tells the story of poverty-stricken Charlie Bucket, a young boy who receives the once-in-a-lifetime chance to visit Willy Wonka's mysterious chocolate factory, where the world’s most amazing and magical sweets are produced.
Held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the beloved novel, the multidisciplinary dance production will take audiences into an enchanting world, one where rivers run with chocolate and gobstoppers are everlasting.
It will be performed by 120 students from 15 countries, with Glenn van der Hoff from the Netherlands as artistic director. Appearing as guest performers will be singer Nop Ponchamni and Michael Allman, director and actor from Chiang Mai's Gate Theatre.
Tickets cost 540-2,000 baht (100 baht for students) and can be purchased from Sangdao Performing Arts School, third floor of EQ Square Bldg, Chiang Mai-Hangdong Road. Proceeds will go to support underprivileged children in Chiang Mai.
