Official description

Musical director Michael England has been invited once again by the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra Foundation, to conduct a star-studded cast in a show entitled Musicals Rock at the Thailand Cultural Centre on Oct 21 at 8pm.

This time he brings a fresh, newly established ensemble of vocalists — Jenna Lee-James, Rachel Wooding and Oliver Tompsett. They have all made an impressive impact in the very home of this genre — London’s West End.

The concert will celebrate great highlights from blockbuster rock-musicals, including the Michael Jackson-inspired Thriller and mega-hit jukebox musicals such as Mamma Mia! — the record breaking ABBA stage phenomenon which will both open and finish this show.

Queen musical We Will Rock You will be represented by hits such as Radio Ga Ga, We Are The Champions, and Somebody To Love. Priscilla Queen Of The Desert provides classics I Will Survive and Go West.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s groundbreaking 1970 Jesus Christ Superstar contributes songs I Don’t Know How To Love Him and Heaven On Their Minds. Other showstoppers include One Song Glory, Buenos Aires, Grease Medley, Fame, Defying Gravity and One Night In Bangkok.

Lee-James comes from Glasgow and built a career from the age of 10 in pantomime before progressing to the West End. She is a regular guest artist for BBC 2’s Friday Night Is Music Night and took part in Abbey Road’s 80th Birthday Bash with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
