Official description

Thai multidisciplinary artist Michael Shaowanasai presents his new collection of objets d’art derived from years of study and observation during the “Michael Shaowanasai’s Revisits” exhibition at Chulalongkorn University’s Art Centre from tomorrow to Feb 6.

The concept of this site-specific exhibition points towards his view of life and the events he has been involved with in his existence. His works have been created in different time frames and yet each piece has become a self-portrait of the artist.

This collection of scattered ideas reflects how his thinking process has fermented and formed the unrelated relation in the overall picture of the exhibition.

Like a traveller who has seen the path along his journey, the exhibition will serve as a return to the origins and then a new departure in his artistic life. It will mark the end and also set the beginning of another journey that we all have decided to take, travelling around in circles with the hope that one day we will finally reach the destination of our destiny.

The opening reception is tomorrow at 6.30pm, preceded by an artist talk at 5.30pm. The Art Centre is located on the 7th floor of the Office of Academic Resources, Chulalongkorn University, Phaya Thai Road and opens from 9am to 7pm on weekdays and 9am to 4pm on Saturday. Call 02-218-2965.
