Swiss artist Raffaello Somazzi reflects his deeply personal response to life through a collection of 20 vibrant paintings which will be displayed during the “Cosmic Portraits” exhibition at the S Gallery of Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit from tomorrow to April 6.
He has been creating symbolic art from his home in northeastern Thailand for more than 10 years. Subjects in his cosmic portraits in acrylic include Queen Elizabeth, Brigitte Bardot, Caroline of Monaco as well as collectors and friends to whom he has dedicated his work.
The portraits are not based on the physical appearances of people but on intimate personal data related to environmental values. To be more precise, his work is built on historical foundations and attempts to add a drop to the poetry of his intimate relationship with colour.
According to Somazzi, he considered himself lucky for having fulfilled his dreams as a young man to be estranged from the hectic pace of consumerism and to devote himself to the search for the primary values that uphold the life of mankind.
S Gallery is on the Lobby Level of the Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit and opens daily from 10am-10pm.
