Official description

To mark HM the King’s 89th birthday, the Parent & Teacher Association of the Chiang Mai Ballet Academy will present two rounds of the 14th Charity Musical Dance Play: Classical Ballet La Bayadere and Alice In Wonderland 2016 at Kad Theatre in Chiang Mai on March 27 at noon and 3.30pm.

The La Bayadere ballet will last for 30 minutes and the 75-minute Alice In Wonderland performance will feature various styles of dance — jazz, modern and contemporary.

The main principal cast are Thai and foreign ballet dancers who have won prizes from many international dance competitions from New York, San Francisco, Singapore, Hong Kong and the Philippines. They include Khemruthai Chaiwipassatorn, Hannah Staton, Sasipim Wattanachet, Sirada Limjeerajarat, Pawinee Suemanotham, Chatnapha Kittirattanapaiboon and Shan Del Vecchio.

Also joining the cast are Peera Phanlukthao, the first Thai male ballet dancer with a PhD from the UK, Saroch Rochprasertgul, Chonnakarn Panpijit, Wuttipong Arayatumsopon, Ongkarn Chaiongkarn, Pisadej Rodrueangsan and Napat “Fon” Chivakidakarn, an artist from GMM Grammy during 1999-2008.

More than 300 students from the Chiang Mai Ballet Academy will join the production, which has Mom Luang Preeyapun Sridhavat as artistic director. She won the Asia Pacific Inspired Woman Award in the art category in 2002 from Singapore and Outstanding Asean Women Entrepreneur Award 2015 in the art and culture category from Vietnam.
