Official description

Seacon Square will transform its Fountain Court into the Land of the Rising Sun for the “Sugoi Japan” fair that will feature Japanese cuisine, culture and lifestyle from tomorrow to Sept 14.

Set in Japan’s autumn atmosphere, the 10-day fair will be decorated with replicas of what symbolise Japan such as the Big Lantern of Asakusa Temple, Daibutsu (or Great Buddha) statue of Kotoku-in Temple, Sake Barrels at Meiji Shrine, the legendary monster of Godzilla and Oni, the red and blue demons from Japanese folklore. A tori tunnel and a Japanese-style wooden bridge will also be erected to bring visitors to the virtual atmosphere.

Konnichiwa Japan!

The highlight will be a live cutting show of a 40kg tuna imported from Japan on Friday and Saturday and on Sept 3 at 3.30pm. After the demonstration, the meat will be available for sale at a 50% discount.

A variety of cultural performances will be staged from Friday to Sunday and from Sept 3-4 at 3pm and 5.30pm. They include a Taiko drumming; a Yosakoi Soran dance that involves the use of fan, flag and umbrella; and a ninja fighting show.

Exclusively for this year, nine famous Japanese restaurants — Gold Curry, Tohkai Japanese Restaurant, Snow Beef, O Tako Takoyaki, Homo Cafe, Aki Dango, Manaki Soft, Marugame and Amai Melon — will offer their must-try menu/set at a fixed price of 199 baht (from the normal price of 499 baht). The special promotion is available every Friday to Sunday with seats limited to only 30 diners a day.

A variety of Japanese products, souvenir, food and goodies will also be available from more than 60 shops. Seacon Square is on Srinakarin Road.
