Painting a picture of endless love

Eighteen veteran artists have joined hands to express their love for HM the King through art during “Forever In Our Heart, Forever Our King” exhibition at the Emporium Gallery, M floor of The Emporium shopping centre, Sukhumvit Road, until Dec 5.

Held in collaboration with Silpasri Arts, this is a rare chance to see 40 masterpieces comprising 20 paintings and 20 sculptures by the country’s top-notch artists, who have been hailed as gems of the Rattanakosin era.

They include National Artists Chakrabhand Posayakrit, Pichai Nirand, Preecha Thaothong; great sculptors Nonthivathn Chandhaphalin, Watchara Prayoonkum, Noppadon Viroonchatapun; as well as great illustrators Teerawat Kanama and Netikorn Chinyo, who worked for The Story Of Mahajanaka, a popular literary work by HM the King.

Among the 20 exhibited paintings are four portraits of Their Majesties the King and Queen created by Chusit Wijarnjoragij, the first Thai artist who won the American Fine Art Magazine’s drawing competition. He is also recognised for his artistic excellence by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, aka the Met, in New York.

All of the masterpieces will also be presented through what is said to be Asia’s biggest 3D mapping show. Produced by young-blood architect Tee Naanthawariis, the projection will be on the spacious walls of both Emporium and EmQuartier on Sukhumvit Road, taking up to 3,500m² combined. There will be four shows daily in the evenings.

All 20 sculptures, selected paintings and canvas prints of the 20 paintings will be available for purchase. Part of the proceeds will go to Anandamahidol Foundation.

The opening ceremony is today at 5.30pm, followed by a performance of the royal anthem Sansoen Phra Barami by VieTrio and an orchestra at 7pm.
