Official description

Interested expats are invited to an evening dhamma talk in English with Ajahn Pasanno, one of the world's most senior Western Buddhist monks, this Sunday from 6pm to 8pm at Rojana Dhamma Center on Sukhumvit 23.

He will be sharing his reflections on the topic "Finding Balance In Challenging Times". A new president-elect in the US, Brexit, and continuing political difficulties around the world pose challenges on the world stage. People face sickness or economic hardships, and the environment seems to be ever more unbalanced. Finding a compassionate and reliable response to these issues can be taxing.

Canadian Ajahn Pasanno ordained as a Buddhist monk under the famous Thai master Ajahn Chah in the Northeast of Thailand in 1974. The area was still very remote at the time and the conditions in the monastery posed many difficulties like heat, poor diet, and malaria.

Still, Ajahn Chah attracted a growing number of western disciples, soon setting up an international monastery close to the head temple. Ajahn Pasanno became its abbot after he had been ordained for nine years. He later moved to California in the United States, where he currently serves as abbot of the large Abhayagiri Forest Monastery.

There is no admission fee and no need to book in advance.
