Official description

The North Phuket Culinary Arts Festival 2010, organised by the five northern Phuket resorts situated on Mai Khao, the island's longest beach, will take place from Dec 3-5. During the three-day festival, each resort will host different events to celebrate the culinary talents and attractions of this unspoiled part of Phuket.

The five participating resorts are Sala Phuket Resort & Spa, Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa, Anantara Phuket Villas, Aleenta Resort & Spa and JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa. These resorts have come together to form the North Phuket Resorts Alliance and are working together to put North Phuket and Mai Khao beach on the map with their unique selling points.

The festival programme features North Phuket's longest dining table, presented by Sala Phuket and Renaissance Phuket, on Dec 3; the "Silk Rhythms Music and Fashion Show" hosted Anantara Phuket Villas and Aleenta on Dec 4; and the bounty "Brunch of Your Life" staged by JW Marriott Phuket right on Mai Khao beach.

The "Silk Rhythms Music and Fashion Show" evening at Anantara Phuket Villas will see guests experiencing sunset over the Andaman Sea accompanied by the eclectic and melodic house tunes by the fashion world's favourite DJ, Charles Schillings. Patrons will also be treated to a spectacular evening of Jim Thompson's new summer silk collection shown off by top models. Guests will also be able to chill out and mingle beside Anantara Phuket Villas' infinity pool; sample cocktails created by international mixologists; enjoy a unique barefoot Coastal BBQ served in the infinity pool or snack on delicious Thai food from the market stalls located on the lawn, and groove to the beats until late. Charles Schillings is known for mixing eclectic and melodic house with rock, electro-funk, soul, groove and jazz. He has played at Rex and the Queen in Paris, Le Cafe d'Anvers in Belgium, Lotus in New York and Jet Set in Moscow. His resume includes sound design for Karl Lagerfeld and French brand Celine since 2006 along with spinning for special events for Calvin Klein, Louis Vuitton, Chopard and Armani. Prices start from 1,200 baht per person for the sunset session, including the music and fashion show and the first drink, or 2,700 baht per person for the sunset session and the Coastal BBQ dinner including free-flowing wine. For reservations, please visit www.phuket.anantara.com. Prices for the North Phuket Culinary Arts Festival 2010 programme are 1,400 baht net per person for a single event pass; or 3,600 baht net per person for full weekend pass.
