KANCHANABURI: Executives of a private school in Tha Muang will face civil, criminal and disciplinary action for alleged falsification of pre-kindergarten pupils’ birth certificates to get state subsidies.

An investigation by the provincial education office, headed by Anan Kallapa, recently concluded that Amnuaywit Kanchanaburi School had falsified birth certificates for 24 pre-kindergarten pupils and used the fake documents to claim state subsidies from the Office of the Private Education Commission, governor Jeerakiart Phumisawat said on Wednesday.

The school was found to have used fake documents to get state subsidies totaling 20,176.83 baht from the commission, which oversees public schools.

Mr Jeerakiart said the provincial education office had already assigned legal officials to file a complaint against executives of the school with Tha Muang police station.

The probe is now being extended to look into previous records of state subsidies received by the school, to see if it had falsified other birth certificates.

A committee would be set up to investigate serious disciplinary violations against the school management. They would face civil, criminal and disciplinary action, the governor said.

Authorities would launch inquiries into all private schools in the province, to find out whether they had done similar things to claim state subsidies.

There were reports that the manager of Anmuaywit Kanchanaburi School, the director of the school and another executive who obtained a permit to run the school would face legal action over the alleged falsification of birth certificates.
