SAMUT PRAKAN: A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a 65-year-old man over the murder of a work colleague whose body was found trussed up in a canvas sheet at a waste-water treatment plant on Tuesday.

Police said the Samut Prakan provincial court had approved an arrest warrant for Somchai Kaew-on, who worked as a security guard at the facility, over the death of Thaworn Khachornsai, 42.

Thaworn's body was discovered in a sack on a carry cart at the waste-water plant operated by the Pollution Control Department in tambon Samrong Nua, Muang district. The victim was stabbed in the chest and bashed on the head.

The body was wrapped in a sheet of canvas tied up with ropes. Found near the body was a steel pipe with bloodstains and the victim's mobile phone.

Police investigators learned that Thaworn had an argument with Mr Somchai on Monday, saying he should be not be drinking during work hours, and had reported him to their supervisor.

When the supervisor could not contact either Mr Somchai or Thaworn on Tuesday he went to the plant to see what was going on, and found the body.

Mr Somchai, a former boxer, faces two charges, premeditated murder and concealment of the body, police said.
