PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN: A lone armed man robbed a 7-Eleven store in Muang district during a heavy downpour early Saturday morning, fleeing with 8,000-baht cash and a pack of baby diapers.

The robbery occurred at the Nong Sua 7-Eleven branch on Phetchakasem-Ban Nong Sua Road in tambon Koh Lak, said Pol Lt Col Yotwaris Thongsongsom, a duty officer at Muang police station, who was alerted at 4.30am on Saturday.

Thanasak Rattanasiri and Sumitta Srianan, the staff at the store, told police that the robbery occurred at 4.16am during a heavy downpour.

A man, wearing a raincoat, a pink crash helmet and black gloves, entered the store. He then pulled out a pistol and told them to stay put.

The thief, in his 30s, then asked Ms Sumitta to move from the counter to the shelf area before firing one shot at the ceiling. He subsequently forced Mr Thanasak, who was standing at the counter, to take money from cashier drawers and put it on the counter.

Afterwards, the robber told Ms Sumitta to go back to the counter. He then walked to a shelf and took a pack of baby diapers and quickly grabbed the cash, totalling 8,000 baht, before fleeing on a motorcycle.

Police examined footage of security cameras near the store which showed the robber travelling alone on the motorcycle. They were hunting the man.
