Senior officers at Bangkok's Khok Khram police station face investigation and transfer to inactive posts after a raid by local officials found evidence of drug abuse at a pub that breached closing hours in Bung Kum district.

Pol Maj Gen Ekachai Boonwisut, chief of Metropolitan Police Division 2, said on Wednesday he would propose the transfer of the police station chief, two deputies and two inspectors-general.

They would be attached to his division pending an investigation in the wake of the pub raid, he said.

About 60 officials of the Department of Juvenile Observation and Protection and the Department of Provincial Administration raided Tomorrow Land Exclusive Club on Prasert Manukit Road in Bung Kum around 2.40am on Wednesday.

About 200 people were still celebrating Christmas there, although the venue was required to close at midnight. About 100 attractive women employees in red dresses were entertaining customers. The raid was in response to complaints the club was staying open after hours.

The officials found drugs, including ketamine and ecstasy pills, dropped on the floor and in toilets. Customers were given urine tests and 22 of them showed positive for drug use. Two employees were arrested for possession of illicit drugs.

Ronarong Tipsiri, director of investigation and suppression at the Department of Provincial Administration, said no customers were below the legal age of 20 years, but pub manager Peerawat Wongsing, 54, failed to produce an operating licence when asked.
