TV anchor files domestic violence claim against ex

A former Channel 3 reporter has accused her ex-husband of domestic violence, ejecting her from their home and denying her access to their one-year-old daughter.

Bussarathip Phusitthirat, 36, filed a complaint at the Crime Suppression Division yesterday. She claims her ex-husband, mother-in-law and a neighbour assaulted her and prevented her from visiting the toddler.

Her former spouse Karn Hemsamiti is a deputy secretary of the Thai Journalists Association.

She lived with him in his mother's house for about three years and claims she was frequently assaulted, even when pregnant. Her former partner on occasion slapped her and knocked her head on the floor, she said.

"The most violent incident happened when my ex-husband, his mother and their neighbour tied me up by my wrists and ankles," Ms Bussarathip said.

"My former mother-in-law later convinced me to withdraw the complaint I filed with the police, but my ex-husband assaulted me again after I returned to him," she added.

She alleged that on April 16, her ex-husband and mother-in law assaulted her, forced her to leave the house and changed the lock on the gate.

Ms Bussarathip filed a complaint but claims she was prevented that same day from entering the house to see her daughter and collect her belongings.

Mr Karn yesterday said he hoped an investigation by the CSD would prove the allegations against him were unfounded.
