Bangkok air still 'unhealthy' as PM 2.5 persists

Hazardous particulate levels were detected in seven districts of Bangkok and in areas of five adjacent provinces on Monday morning -- Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan and Samut Sakhon.

Chayapol Thitisak, director-general of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, said unhealthy levels of particulate matter of 2.5 micrometres or less in diameter ranged from 54 to 87 microgrammes per cubic metre of air over the previous 24 hours. The maximum safe threshold is 50mcg.

In Bangkok, unhealthy levels were reported on Kanchanaphisek Road in Bang Khunthian district, in Bang Na sub-district of Bang Na district, Klongchan subdistrict of Bang Kapi district, Din Daeng subdistrict and on Din Daeng Road in Din Daeng district, Rama IV Road in Pathumwan district, Intarapitak Road in Thon Buri district, Lat Phrao Road and in Phlab Phla sub-district in Wang Thongland district.

Elsewhere, dirty air was recorded in tambon Bang Kruai of Bang Kruai district in Nonthaburi; tambon Khlong Nueng of Khlong Luang district in Pathum Thani; tambon Song Khanong and tambon Bang Talad of Phra Pradaeng district and tambon Bang Sao Thong of Bang Sao Thong district in Samut Prakan province; tambon Om Noi of Krathum Baen district and on Rama II of Muang district in Samut Sakhon province; and tambon Nakhon Pathom of Muang district in Nakhon Pathom province.
