UBON RATCHATHANI - A 28-year-old man who apparently tried to hang himself while broadcasting on Facebook Live was saved when a friend who was watching the feed reacted quickly by contacting people nearby.
The incident occurred at a restaurant near the Mun River in Muang district. A colleague saved the man, the manager of the restaurant, after the friend, a man named Song, saw the alleged suicide attempt being broadcast.
The colleague told police that Mr Song immediately called him at the restaurant.
Rescue workers arrived quickly to help the manager.
Pol Col Siramet Thaninpitak, chief of Muang Ubon Ratchathani police station, said the manager's mobile phone was on a beverage side table close to him. There were no signs of a struggle. He assumed the man had a personal problem.
A thick electrical wire was fastened to a tree and apparently used by the manager to hang himself.
