The owner of the drone which flew over the Royal Thai Air Force base turned himself in to police on Thursday to acknowledge charges.

Deputy Don Muang police chief Pol Lt Col Rungsan Sornsing said authorities had charged him with flying unmanned aircraft without authorisation in violation of the Air Navigation Act and taking photos of areas off-limits to the public.

The air force lodged a complaint with the police station in August after seeing a drone near the Don Mueang base. The law that bans unmanned aircraft from flying within a nine-kilometre radius of the airport.

He is under investigation by the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand.
