A tourist from China was slightly hurt after a boat carrying her tour group sank off Phangnga on Sunday.

Saengsuree Songthong, a deputy chief of Khao Ping Kan National Park, identified the injured tourist as Chang Cian, 19. She was sent for treatment at Phangnga Hospital, the official added.

The Kao Kao Tour boat carrying Ms Chang and 15 other tourists from China became engulfed by rough seas after its engine died. The vessel was floating in the Andaman Sea between Koh Talu and  Khao Ping Kan.

The national park sent a boat to rescue the crew and passengers, and found Ms Chang had suffered bruises on her chest and arms, according to the official.
