Toon resumes run after break, donations top B725m

CHAI NAT: Rock singer Artiwara “Toon” Kongmalai resumed his marathon charity run early Tuesday morning after taking a rest break on Sunday and Monday to recover from a cold.

He started off around 2am from outside the Chai Nat Highway Depot in Muang district of Chai Nat province,  heading for a Susco petrol station in Nakhon Sawan province where he planned to stay the night. 

Toon appeared fresh and healthy after his two-day break.

He reached Phayuha Khiri district of Nakhon Sawan before 9am and was expected to reach Muang district an hour later.

According to the official website, kaokonlakao.com, donations had risen to more than 725 million baht on Tuesday.

Toon achieved his initial goal to raise 700 million baht for 11 cash-strapped public hospitals on Saturday when he reached Chai Nat, 1,510 kilometres into his epic run. 

He began his run on Nov 1 in Betong district of Yala province in the far South and plans to end in northernmost Mae Sai district of Chiang Rai on Dec 25 - a distance of 2,191km.
