Bus overturns, Korean tourists injured

A tour bus taking 12 South Koreans to a hot spring overturned in Chiang Mai province on Thursday, seriously injuring one tourist and slightly injuring 13 other people.

The accident occured on a road in Doi Saket district, Pol Lt Col Sathitchai Nittyawat, the Mae Pong police chief, said.

A bus run by KCT Tour was taking 12 Koreans from the city to San Kamphaeng hot spring when the driver lost control and it veered the road into an irrigation canal.

The officer said 11 tourists, the driver and guide were slightly hurt, but one of the visitors was seriously injured. They were taken to Doi Saket Hospital. Those with minor injuries were later allowed to leave.

Driver Suthas Kong-ngern told police that he lost control on a curve.

The bus is owned by Sakkarin Thasak, who operates it for KCT Tour.
