BURI RAM: A man was killed after a motorcycle he was driving rammed into the rear of a stationary 18-wheel lorry in Muang district late on Saturday night, police said.

Janya Poonsadee, 30, the driver of the lorry, told police that he parked the vehicle by the side of the road in Ban Sawai Chik on Buri Ram-Krasang road. He was taking the lorry from Roi-et province to a rock-grinding factory in Buri Ram.

While he was checking the tyres, he said, a motorcycle travelling at high speed rammed into the rear of the lorry. The motorcycle driver, identified later as Uthin Suthi, 53, was killed instantly when his head struck a steel bar at the back of the lorry.

Pol Capt Anuprem Nunanok, a Muang police investigator, said police were investigating.
