Fire destroys 3 wooden houses in Hat Yai

SONGKHLA: A fire broke out in a community of old wooden houses in Hat Yai municipality on Saturday night, burning down three structures, police said.

Pol Col Kittichai Sangkhathavorn, the Hat Yai police chief, said the fire started at about 8pm in a two-storey wooden house and spread to two single-storey wooden row houses in the Chok Saman Community near Wat Khok Saman Khun temple.

Eight fire engines were able to bring the fire under control after about an hour, preventing the fire from spreading further to shops and factories nearby. 

Police were investigating the cause of the fire. The damage was being assessed.

In another fire on Saturday night, 14 old wooden houses burnt down in Ayutthaya.
