Students injured when tour bus runs off road

AYUTTHAYA: A double-decker bus carrying 38 teachers and students on a field trip to Chon Buri province plunged off the rain-soaked highway in Nakhon Luang district overnight, injuring all people on board.

The bus, plate number 30-0181 registered in Nakhon Sawan, was taking 28 secondary school students and 10 teachers from Bannonyai School in Kamphaeng Phet province to  Nongnooch Gardens in Chon Buri.

It left Kamphaeng Phet at 11pm Wednesday and most passengers were sleeping at the time of the accident.

All the passengers suffered minor injuries and received first aid at the scene. The driver, identified as Chavalit Yooyuen, 45, was seriously injured and was rushed to Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Hospital, where his condition was reported to be stable.

The director of Bannonyai School, Udom Leela, was among the injured passengers.
