KHON KAEN: A car driver was caught on video breaking into a shop in Muang district and making off with cash, mobile phones, notebook computers and other items, worth over 200,000 baht.

The lone thief, wearing a cap and shorts, parked a Honda Accord sedan in front of Chai Charoen Charter shop in Muang district at around 3am on May 23. He then broke into the shop and used a screwdriver to force open a drawer and stole 5,000-baht cash and mobile phones.

He then took nine notebook computers, six digital cameras and 11 other items, including iPads, from the shop before fleeing in his car. Footage of the shop’s closed-circuit television camera captured the thief.

Natthapong Pongpiyanurat, 52, told the Bangkok Post that the stolen items were worth more than 200,000 baht. He had already filed a complaint with local police.

He said he received information that the same thief had allegedly stolen from 10 shops and houses in Khon Kaen over the past three days before breaking into his shop.

Mr Natthapong offered a cash reward of 10,000 baht for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
