CHON BURI: The Bangkok-bound cargo vessel Pathara Marine 6 capsized off Koh Si Chang late Wednesday night scattering about 70 containers in the sea, but all four crew members are safe.

Officials reported the vessel left Laem Chabang port in Chon Buri about 11pm on Wednesday for Bangkok.

About 11.40pm, officials in Si Racha district reported the vessel capsized and sank as it was passing Koh Si Chang, where the current and wind changed direction and waves were higher.

The containers have not been retrieved from the sea and remain a hazard to shipping.
