The Dusit District Court has sentenced six net idols and product presenters to one month in jail, suspended for one year, and a fine of 1,000 baht each, for encouraging World Cup gambling.

The six women -- Paradee Koosinsap, Saitarn Yim-ampa, Nirada Kuenongkhun, Jessie Vard, Thanyakarn Rojin and another defendant -- were taken to the court to hear the ruling on Tuesday.

Phaya Thai police accused them of violating Section 12 of the Anti-Gambling Act by encouraging people to bet on World Cup matches.

All women confessed to the charges. They were given a suspended jail term and a fine of 1,000 baht.
