>> Paris: Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha yesterday told a group of Thai businessmen accompanying him in France that he will ask French President Emmanuel Macron to help support Thai investments in France.

Gen Prayut said he will meet the French president tomorrow and will use the occasion to raise talks about how Thai businesses will receive support from Paris.

He said he will also ask the French president to help sort out problems and obstacles toward Thai investments in France for the sake of the benefits of the two countries.

Representatives of Thai businesses said they are seeing that Thailand has big potential to invest in France.

They said French business people have also shown an interest in investment that is in line with the government's Thailand 4.0 policy with initiatives in the Bio Economy, Smart City, new energy technology and the tourism business. Representatives accompanying the prime minister to France are from the Federation of Thai Industries, International Chamber of Commerce-Thailand, the Thai Union Food, Loxley and PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC).

The premier also invited French businessmen and companies to invest in Thailand's flagship Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) which covers the three eastern provinces of Rayong, Chachoengsao and Chon Buri.

Thailand and France will sign three memorandums of understanding on SMEs development and information exchange on policy and custom between the Department of International Trade Promotion and the International Chamber of Commerce; framework cooperation on establishment of digitalisation and visualisation with PTTGC and Dassault System; and smart city development between Loxley and Poma.
