The BTS skytrain operator announced on Tuesday it had completed installation of new radio equipment, together with signal noise filters, and had moved system operations to a new frequency.
Train services had been running smoothly since Saturday, but with the possibility of minor disruption and jerking during the initial operation of the new equipment, the Bangkok Mass Transit System Plc announcement said.
Installation of the new signal system followed extensive malfunctions and delays throughout last week, inconveniencing and frustrating commuters. The problem was reportedly caused by an overlapping of frequencies used by the BTS system and TOT telecom services.
The announcement said the firm would compensate affected commuters for the inconvenience of days of signal malfunctions. It was trying to find the best way to do this.
A "remedial solution" for passengers would be announced on Thursday after discussions with all those concerned, the statement said.
