Commuters again experienced problems on the BTS skytrain service on Wednesday morning, with two trains breaking down and passengers suffering from delays and jerky travel.

The operator, Bangkok Mass Transit System, informed the Transport Ministry that one train malfunctioned at Siam station about 8am and required manual operation. The train was later removed from the railway system.

About 10am the company reported a train had broken down at the Phrom Phong station and passengers were moved to another train. This train was also removed from the system and normal services resumed at 10.40am.

Commuters on other trains experienced jerky travel, which was also attributed to train signalling problems, the statement said.

Wednesday's incidents followed a string of malfunctions last week due to train signalling problems the company said were being fixed by the installation of a new radio system and using a new frequency.

BTSC earlier said it would announce a remedial policy for affected commuters on Thursday.
