Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will fly to Phuket in the South on Monday morning and proceed to Chiang Rai in the North in the afternoon, according to Government House sources.

Gen Prayut will oversee the opening of new buildings under the Din Daeng community rehabilitation project at 8.30am on Monday. The ceremony was moved up from 9am to 8.30am to allow the prime minister an earlier departure.

The prime minister will then fly to Phuket to be briefed on the search and rescue operation after two boats packed with tourists, most of them Chinese, capsized in a strong storm on Thursday.

From Phuket, Gen Prayut will proceed to Chiang Rai in the afternoon to meet with the parents and relatives of the 12 football players and their coach trapped in Tham Luang cave in Mae Sai district.

If things go as planned, the first group of the 13 trapped in the cave are expected to be brought out by 9pm on Sunday night.
