Search resumes for missing jet ski driver off Phuket

PHUKET: The search resumed on Wednesday for a jet ski driver who fell into the sea from his machine on Tuesday afternoon near Koh Naka Noi, about six kilometres east of Phuket island.

The missing man, identified as Komes “Oat” Deebukdam, was heading to Koh Naka Noi from Koh Yao in Phangnga. Despite the rough conditions he was reportedly not wearing a life vest and cannot swim.

A small fleet of 10-15 jet skis were sent out find him, but to no avail. Tambon Pa klok Municipality in Phuket‘s Thalang district was also asked to send out boats to join the search. 

The search resumed on Wednesday morning. 

Two speed boats, each with five rescuers, and 30 jet skis were looking for the missing man. Marine Department boats were also expected to join the search. 

On Monday a 62-year-old local man was swept from rocks by a large wave while fishing at Hat Sam Ao in Phuket’s Muang district. The body of Amnat Prom-aim was found floating off Mitraphap Beach in tambon Rawai of Muang district on Tuesday morning.
