TRAT: Rough seas were preventing a search on Thursday for the crew of the fishing boat Tor Chok Siri Sombat, which capsized off Muang district on Wednesday.

The local branch of the Marine Department was informed of the crew's plight about 6pm on Wednesday.

The four-tonne fishing boat and its crew of three left port on Wednesday morning to trap crabs in rough conditions. No more was heard from them.

The navy found the capsized boat, but there was no sign of the crew.

Chayut Rootrakul, of the Ao Yai tambon administration organisation, identified the three missing crewmen only as Choem, Jet and Proh - all migrant workers.

Operators of local fishing boats were waiting for the sea to calm so they they could begin a search for them. Local officials believed the missing crewmen were alive.
