RATCHABURI: A 24-year-old bride thanked everyone for supporting her wedding, and then pointed out the groom was absent and so was his expected 300,000 baht dowry of cash and gold.

A video clip of the lone bride on stage was posted on the page of Facebook user Manow Jutathip Nimnual on Sunday. She said she had done her best organising the ceremony and had not expected it to turn out so.

The jilted woman thanked her parents and friends for helping organise the wedding party at Wat Pikoolthong in Muang district at noon Sunday. She also thanked her guests for being there.

Her cousin Kanyalak Puangmala said Miss Juthathip agreed to wed the 20-year-old man shortly after their relationship started. She asked for a 200,000-baht cash dowry and six baht-weight of gold. The groom's side agreed and they had pre-wedding photographs taken, issued about 1,000 invitation cards and arranged for 170 dining tables.

A week before the wedding, the bride learned that her husband-to-be had another girl, but the man insisted he would solve that problem and wed her as scheduled.

On Saturday the groom said he could not raise the dowry. His family said it could afford only 60,000 baht. The bride's side agreed.

The bride could not reach the groom on Saturday evening. Late Saturday night his family confirmed they could contact him and they would meet the bride's family at 5am on Sunday.

When the groom's side did not show up on Sunday, the bride's family asked his uncle, who looked like him, to stand in as the groom. Miss Kanyalak said the uncle demanded 1 million baht.

The uncle later wrote a note to say that he had a wife and could not stand in. The 1-million-baht request was a joke.

Miss Kanyalak said her jilted cousin would take legal action.
