Pattaya cabbie returns cash, ring to Chinese tourist

PATTAYA: A taxi driver has been rewarded 2,000 baht from a Chinese tourist for returning cash and a diamond ring to him.

Jumpol Sahaya handed over a bag containing cash, a diamond ring and credit cards to tourist police in Pattaya on Sunday night. The money included 48 yuan banknotes worth 25,000 in Thai baht and another 3,300 baht in cash.

The driver said the bag was found in his car by two female passengers he picked up after he had dropped off Chen Mingxin in the resort city.

Acting Pattaya Tourist Police chief Pol Lt Col Aek Mahasawad said police contacted the Chinese visitor to collect his items from the driver.

Mr Chen thanked the driver and gave him 2,000 baht as a token of appreciation.
