A titillating tweet from a jogger claiming to have seen a group of people having sex in Lumpini Park sent Bangkok governor Aswin Kwanmaung into a state of denial that such activities go on there.

He exercised twice a week in the country's most famous public park, right in the city's centre, and had never seen such goings on there, the governor exclaimed.

Pol Gen Aswin Kwanmuang on Friday challenged the person who posted the message, saying he would give the tweeter 100,000 baht if he could prove it was true.

His comment followed a tweet by @jiji_winkieboy on Tuesday that he saw a group of people having sex in an area away from the main paths while he was jogging.

"I thought they were looking for Pokemons," the message said - reference  to a popular location-based game, Pokeman Go, in which players to find cartoon characters on their mobile phones.

The location, according to the Twitter message, was the Octagon Pavilion.

Reactions to the message were divided -- one side confirming they had seen this going on there before, and the other accusing the tweeter of just looking for attention.

But the city's director of public parks, Arom Wongmaha, and a security officer at Lumpini confirmed the report, according to TV Channel 3.

Mrs Arom said the sexual romp was reported on Tuesday around 3pm, and all involved were foreigners.

The security officer said he was told about it  - and found them.

"I was informed by my staff and other people that a group of people behaving indecently at the pavilion. I rushed there and approached them," he told the news station. "After I gave them a warning they put on their clothes and walked away," he added.
