SAMUT SAKHON: Five senior officers from the Krathum Baen police station have been transferred following a raid on a popular pub where 123 patrons tested positive for illicit drugs.

The five officers, including the station superintendent, deputy superintendents, crime suppression and investigation chiefs, were moved to the operations centre at Provincial Police Region 7 pending an investigation.

Pol Maj Gen Mana Inpitak, chief of Samut Sakhon police, said the officers would be investigated for alleged negligence.

The transfer came after a task force of the Department of Provincial Administration raided Nos Pub in Krathum Baen district of the province southeast of Bangkok in the early hours of Saturday. Authorities ordered urine tests on the 800 patrons and 123 of them — 80 men and 43 women — had drugs in their system. Seven of those rounded up were under age 20, Thai media reported.

Pol Col Kritsana Pattanacharoen, deputy spokesman for the Royal Thai Police Office, said the pub operator was charged with operating beyond legal hours, illegal sales of alcohol, allowing illicit drug use on the premises, having underage customers and other related offences.
