KANCHANABURI: The headless body of a man was found floating in the Kwai Noi River in Sai Yok district on Monday.

Police, rescue workers and medical staffers went to the river near Phu Takhian pier in tambon Tha Sao after being alerted at around 1.30pm, said Pol Lt Chaiya Paiwan, deputy investigation chief at Sai Yok police station.

The naked man, whose head was cut off, was about 160-170cm tall.

The man had a Hanuman tattoo on his left arm. A doctor believed he had died at least two days before the body was discovered. The headless corpse was sent to the Police General Hospital’s forensic institute for identification.

Police believed the man might have been a Myanmar worker and was probably slain upstream in the Kwai Noi River before the body was swept away by the strong current.

A police team was sent to investigate the brutal murder.
